Chi Os Around the World
Famous Chi Os

"Chi Omega makes a difference on campus and in the surrounding community. This policy ensures that Chi Omega chapters undertake meaningful projects that put Chi Omega values into action. The national expectation for community service is that each chapter annually participate in one project that serves the local or national community. Chi Omega members are encouraged to become involved in determining which projects the chapter supports, and then actively participate. Chi Omega Ritual promotes self-fulfillment through unselfishness and service.

In 2002 Chi Omega adopted the Make-A-Wish foundation as its national philanthropy. Since then, Chi Omega chapters across the country have raised $836,373 and have put in over 20,800 hours of volunteer work for Make-A-Wish.

You can visit Make-A-Wish's official website at www.wish.org

Here at Villanova University, we have raised over $10,000 and already aided in granting several children's wishes. We are currently a certified Bronze donor to the Make-A-Wish foundation. Our Philanthropy Cardinal Cabinet organizes fundraising efforts such as "Rock N Bowl" and "Donate Dough to Kiss a Chi O" throughout the year to continue our support of this cause.

As Chi Omegas, we have unique opportunities to serve and realize intrinsic fulfillment in making a difference in the lives of many individuals, young and old. If we impact on life the outreach is worth the effort." -- Jean Mermond Mrasek

One of the most rewarding experiences in Chi Omega Fraternity is through our dedication to community service.

Things Remembered
November 18, 2006

The Story:
In 1997, Elysia, a teenage girl with a life-threatening medical condition had a unique wish-- not for herself, but for others she loved.  Things Remembered granted Elysia's wish by creating 62 personalized gifts, one for each of the special people in her life to help them remember her in a happy way.  Elysia's wish inspired the start of what has become an annual program that has raised more than $3 million for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
To honor Elysia's memory, Things Remembered donates $2 from every purchase of the Make-A-Wish Collectables to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Cold Stone Creamery
September 28, 2006

The Story:

In September, Cold Stone Creamery will also debut “Cole’s Creation” inspired by Cole, a 10-year-old wish kid from Colorado. Cole’s Creation consists of chocolate ice cream blended on a cold granite stone with yellow cake, chocolate chips and rainbow sprinkles.
At the end of September, Cold Stone Creamery will donate the star proceeds, all customer donations, and 50 cents for every case of ice cream sold during the month to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.Donations from the month-long promotion and Fifth Annual World’s Largest Ice Cream Social will help grant the wishes of children diagnosed with life-threatening medical conditions. Such fundraising efforts grant wishes like Cole’s. He was so moved by the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001 that he wished to travel to New York City and meet the firefighters he had seen on television and come to admire.

Every year Cold Stone Creamery holds its annual World's Largest Ice Cream Social to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation. it is a great opportunity for the local community to come together with music, food and even face painting. During the entire month of September, Cold Stone makes and accepts donations for Make-A-Wish and then closes out the month with the ice cream social. An important element of our sisterhood is taking part in our community, and so Iota Lambda made sure to attend.
(Minus the face paint!!)
