Sorority History

 


Founding Information:

Kappa Delta Sorority was founded on
 October 23, 1897 at State Female Normal School
(now Longwood University), in Farmville, Virginia.

Our four founders:
 Lenora Ashmore (Blackiston)
Mary Sommerville Sparks (Hendrick)
Sara Turner (White)
Julia Gardiner Tyler (Wilson)

                

The women ranged from 15 to 25 in age, but all shared the dream of creating something more lasting than a club.

 The Eta Theta Chapter at Villanova University was founded on April 4, 2004.
