Getting
Involved
Most students get involved in Greek Life because
it provides them with opportunities for leadership, service,
improved scholastic resources and lifelong friendships that will last
decades beyond college. Getting involved in the Villanova Greek
Community is a positive experience that expands a Villanova student’s
horizons and enables them to be involved in many facets of the
University. |

Why should you join?
In University Life you will be faced with many opportunities, many
challenges. You may have some unanswered questions going through your
mind whether you're a new freshman, a continuing student, or a transfer
student.
These concerns are very common. Every one likes to
belong to and feel a part of something. Fraternities and Sororities
offer you the chance to meet people who share your interests and values
as natural friends.
Greek Organizations can help you find your niche on campus, be your home
away from home, offer resources to help you achieve your academic goals,
encourage you to get involved in campus organizations, let you play on
that winning intramural team, and give you a group of friends that will
cheer you on when you're successful and who will support you when the
going gets tough.
The decision to participate in fraternity recruitment is very personal
and can often be intimidating. We encourage you to learn as much
about the various groups as possible. Educating yourself is the
only way to ensure that you make the best decision possible. Ways
to do so include checking out the Greek Life web site, stopping a member
of a fraternity or sorority organization, or coming by the Greek life
and chatting it up with the staff.

significant men and women who made the wise decision, during their
collegiate years, to join a fraternity or sorority.

Hazing
In any form is strictly prohibited by Villanova University, the
Interfraternity Council, and the local and national offices of each
recognized fraternity. New members should not tolerate such
behavior as it does not promote friendship and trust but rather serves
to break down moral and the notion of community upon which Villanova
University was founded. |

Undergrounds
Unfortunately, over the past few years, a few
fraternities have lost their recognition by Villanova University as
official student groups because they failed to comply with university or
national guidelines.
Even more unfortunate, some of these groups continue to operate
illegally and without university supervision, personal liability
insurance, an affiliation with a national organization, and are devoid
of their tax exempt status with the internal revenue service.
As you can tell, there should be great concern about the well being of
those individuals who choose to join these unrecognized organizations.
The most important fact to recognize is that these groups ARE NOT
fraternities as they are devoid of any ritual or recognition by a
national organization (refer to any of the three national fraternity
websites, where you'll find no mention of Villanova University).
Below is a list of the underground groups.
